Our use cases build on four technology domains in which we deliberately strengthen our expertise.
Based on our strategic vision and defined objectives, we identified key technology domains several years ago that will significantly influence our internal and external operations in the coming years. We initiated targeted proofs of concept and pilot projects within these domains, and are now focusing on their comprehensive rollout across the organization.IoT, Data Analytics & AI
On a daily basis, we accumulate valuable data within our systems that, through advanced analytics, enable enhanced or entirely new services while streamlining our operations. Leveraging IoT technologies with sensors and additional data points allows us to optimize the maintenance and management of technical assets by monitoring their condition and forecasting failures based on anomalous patterns. Furthermore, data-driven services present opportunities to develop innovative offerings. AI-powered technologies will play a pivotal role in transforming our workflows, with AI assistants providing essential support in daily tasks and facilitating effective knowledge transfer.
Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality
A virtual representation of assets and buildings enables enhanced information access as well as the simulation of all processes, independent of physical presence. This allows work deployments to be planned and simulated in advance or supported remotely. Through our digital twins in the Metaverse, we can collaborate in entirely new ways—transforming our meeting culture significantly.
By leveraging software robots (RPA), we are already automating numerous administrative processes. Physical robots will also become part of everyday life at SPIE. For example, robots can perform simple tasks such as installation drilling or civil engineering work based on digital twins. Additionally, exoskeletons ease physically demanding tasks—a solution we have already tested successfully.
At SPIE, we rely on a comprehensive ERP landscape (Enterprise Resource Planning) that integrates smart operational platform solutions, such as PLANON, with administrative systems. We are fully prepared for our customers’ unique processes and can deploy flexible low-code solutions on demand, ensuring seamless automation throughout. Only a fully digitized process landscape enables the implementation of intelligent automation solutions—such as smart contracts. These utilize blockchain technology to automatically verify framework agreements and contracts. An independent entity ensures that all conditions for service fulfillment are met, significantly reducing the time-consuming review and approval of our maintenance activities by the customer.
