VR-Supported Training

We continuously pursue innovative and digital training solutions to support the development of our trainees. These tools enable apprentices to master process workflows in an engaging and effective manner while reinforcing critical topics such as occupational safety. This commitment led to the successful implementation and testing of VR-based training modules.

Within a proof of concept, a VR headset was employed to enhance the training of operational processes, with a particular focus on workplace safety. This immersive technology allowed trainees to explore and familiarize themselves with new content in a safe, controlled, and interactive environment.

Virtual Reality (VR) has demonstrated significant potential as a training medium, especially in technically demanding fields with stringent safety requirements. It offers apprentices hands-on experience without exposure to real-world hazards. For instance, essential safety protocols—such as the five fundamental safety rules—can be taught step-by-step with zero risk of injury.

Maximilian Aisch, a third-year mechatronics apprentice, reflects: “Learning through VR provides a highly realistic and risk-free environment to understand new workflows—while maintaining an engaging and interactive approach.”

One of the primary advantages of VR training is its immersive 3D visualization, which facilitates interactive, practical learning. Trainees can examine workflows from multiple angles, enhancing comprehension and accelerating the learning curve. Repetitive practice of complex tasks leads to faster assimilation and retention of knowledge. Moreover, VR simulations enable early identification and correction of potential errors, thereby improving both workplace safety and the quality of task execution.

The introduction of VR technology has been met with enthusiasm among our apprentices, who appreciate the dynamic and engaging nature of virtual learning.

Dajana Schnelting, Service Team Leader and Training Coordinator, notes: “It is truly inspiring to witness how our young professionals leverage VR technology to explore new dimensions of their training—and derive genuine enjoyment from the process. After all, effective training is best achieved when it is both informative and enjoyable.”
