Expertise for the EUREF community
Even before SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa is set to move into the climate-neutral EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf – currently under construction – in 2024, SPIE and EUREF AG are stepping up their partnership in Berlin as well. From 1 January 2023, SPIE will be taking over maintenance services at EUREF-Campus Berlin, with the multi-technical service provider already having assumed responsibility for property management and operational management services on 1 October 2022.
“We’re delighted to have this opportunity to extend our commitment to the EUREF community by bringing our technical expertise to EUREF-Campus Berlin. This site embodies innovation in the energy and mobility transition like no other. We have a lot to offer here with our specialists – and stand to benefit ourselves from exchanges at the site,” explains Rainer Hollang, Managing Director/COO of SPIE Efficient Facilities GmbH.
Kevin Hauert, member of the Executive Board of EUREF AG and Managing Director of EUREF-Service GmbH: “We hope to provide our discerning tenants with optimal technical facility management that specifically meets our standards as a pioneer of the energy transition as well. Smooth cooperation with the facility management team is also especially important for our high-profile events. We’ve had a brilliant experience with SPIE at the site over the past few months and are thrilled to be broadening our partnership.”
Experience and innovation
The team from SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa’s Efficient Facilities operational division at the Berlin-Brandenburg branch took over the first service contract for a specific building in April 2022. Since then, the team led by Object Manager Martin Burkhardt and Junior Object Manager Ulrike Stöhr has been integrating its operations and technology at the campus, and the contract has gradually been expanded. As such, many of the activities involved in contract negotiations – including using bar code labelling to make a record of the buildings and systems – are already complete. “In my 45-plus years of professional experience, I can honestly say that the management of the properties here at the site is a very special assignment, specifically in terms of the large number of innovative and energy-optimised tenants and their technology, but also in view of the day-to-day requirements of this site designed for the future,” says Martin Burkhardt. His colleague Ulrike Stöhr, who completed her dual-track study programme at SPIE in 2022, adds: “I’m excited by the opportunity to put our innovative solutions into practice at the site. For instance, the digital twin of the gasometer building, for which we’ve been gathering data during this early construction phase, will enable us to further optimise our service.”
The contract concluded between SPIE and EUREF Service GmbH in October 2022 is a master agreement. This means that further properties are expected to be added to SPIE’s portfolio in the future. “Over the past year, the successive expansion of our responsibilities has allowed our team to build an exceptionally broad understanding of the properties on the EUREF Campus. We’ll now be using this expertise as we move to further expand our commitment in the future,” explains Robert Latarski, tender director at SPIE Efficient Facilities.
